## 11-4 Linear, Quadratic, & Exponential Models

**Objectives**: to compare linear, quadratic, and exponential models & given a set of data, decide which type of function models the data and write an equation to describe the function.

**Linear model**

Constant first difference in the table, straight line graph, and no exponents or variables in the denominator in the equation.

**Quadratic Model**

Constant second difference in the table, parabola graph, and an exponent attached to the variable in the equation.

**Exponential Model**

Common ratio found in table, one smoooooooth curve as a graph, and the exponent is the variable in the equation.
